Southern Tier Financial Conference: Financial Education for Women by Women

Join other women as we learn how to improve our mind, body and checkbook!

Plan for a fun day out at the Southern Tier Financial Conference: Financial Education for Women by Women scheduled for October 25, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Center, 400 Park Ave., Corning. It will be great way to join other women as we learn how to improve our mind, body, and checkbook!

The keynote for the day will be Deanna Courtney, owner of Activate Wellness Naturally in Tupper Lake keynote speaker. She will speak on Stress Management and its Impact on your Health. Come learn about the science of healing called German New Medicine and the causes of 5,000+ diseases. She will help you understand the three stages of the healing process and ultimately learn how to prevent any future chronic disease. You will get in tune with the Mind-Body-Spirit connection.

The speakers for the day include:

  • Amy Irvine, CFP®, MPASSM and Caitlin Fuller will speak on Developing Your Plan for a Journey with Money (retirement, social security, insurance, investing, and estate).
  • Nancy Reigelsperger, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County financial educator will cover Dealing with Clutter: Emotional, Mental and Physical.
  • Nancy Williamson, ServU Credit Union, will talk about Protecting Your Credit Health & Identity.

Registration is from 8:30 -9:00 a.m. The conference will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. followed by a cocktail hour featuring Lakewood Vineyards. The cost of $25 per person ages 16 and older includes lunch, networking, the conference and the book Smart Women Finish Rich by David Bach. The day will include chair massages by Doralee Ennulat of Rejuvenating Day Spa, door prizes and other exhibitors.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County will offer a FREE 9-hour training series on October 30, November 6 and 13, 2014 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Steuben County Office Building in Bath.Piggy Bank Attendance is required at all three sessions.

  • Understanding Credit
  • Goal Setting
  • Building a spending plan
  • How to look at a family’s unique situation

Financial volunteering is rewarding. With a little encouragement and planning you can help people get control of their finances. It’s a great way to learn more yourself while helping others. Wills vs Trusts

Join us for an informational look at planning with Revocable Living Trusts in a free workshop called Wills versus willTrusts on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Southeast Steuben County Library, 300 Nasser Civic Center Plaza, Corning.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County again partners with Patrick Roth, Elder Law Attorney, CPA from Corning, to lead this workshop. He will present such information as:

  • How can a Revocable Living Trust based estate plan help protect you and secure your family’s future?
  • Do you know the unknown truths about planning with a Revocable Living Trust?
  • Discover the 16 situations in which a Trust can have legal advantages over a Will.
  • Learn the truth about the hidden costs of a Will based estate plan that no one talks about.
